SOLAR OUTDOOR MEDIA

Who We Are

Solar Outdoor Media is a Berlin-based company building solar-powered, data-driven smart city infrastructure. We help cities, operators, campuses, venues, and commercial environments combine cleaner public spaces, connectivity, circular economy design, and real-time urban intelligence.

Our Company

We are a focused infrastructure and technology company at the intersection of renewable energy, smart waste and recycling, public connectivity, and media-enabled urban services. Our work centers on the Solar Wi-Fi Eco Bin® and the SOM WasteOS platform, turning everyday public-space touchpoints into connected, measurable smart city infrastructure.

Solar Outdoor Media operates as a smart city infrastructure platform, consulting and deployment partner, helping public and private stakeholders plan, evaluate, and deploy cleaner, smarter, and more connected public-space infrastructure.

What We Build

Our platform integrates solar energy, IoT-enabled monitoring, public Wi-Fi, environmental sensing, and Sustainable DOOH, programmatic advertisement into deployable urban assets.

  • Solar-powered smart city infrastructure

  • Smart waste and recycling with IoT-enabled monitoring

  • Public Wi-Fi and citizen services

  • SOM WasteOS and urban data intelligence

  • Sustainable DOOH, programmatic advertisement

  • ESG and circular economy reporting support

Our Story

Solar Outdoor Media was founded in Berlin in 2017. Our founder brought more than 18 years of experience in renewable energy development, including large-scale solar projects, combined with a background in media and communications. That mix shaped a simple idea: clean energy can support smarter, more connected public infrastructure.

2017. Founded in Berlin around solar-powered smart city infrastructure.

2018 to 2019. Early development and international visibility, including recognition through an innovation competition linked to a major global telecommunications company.

2020 to 2021. The COVID-19 pandemic delayed several pilots, with first field activities beginning in Catalonia, in the Lleida region of Spain.

2021 to 2023. Early field deployments and pilot interest from municipalities, operators, and commercial sites across several regions.

2024 to 2025. Continued development of the Solar Wi-Fi Eco Bin® and SOM WasteOS, with growing interest across Europe, the MENA region, and Latin America.

Today. We are active across Brazil, Europe, the MENA region, and Mexico, working with ports, campuses, venues, and commercial districts.

Our Platform

Solar power is not an isolated feature. It is part of a broader smart city platform. By combining renewable energy, IoT sensing, public Wi-Fi, data intelligence, and communication layers, we help cities and operators create infrastructure that is cleaner, connected, and measurable.

Business Model

We work with municipalities, operators, venues, campuses, and commercial partners to deploy connected infrastructure that supports cleaner public spaces, citizen services, and media-enabled business models. Our approach pairs deployable hardware with the SOM WasteOS data layer and Sustainable DOOH, programmatic advertisement, where enabled.

Our Values

  • Innovation That Matters. Practical technology that improves public spaces.

  • Sustainability First. Cleaner, low-carbon infrastructure by design.

  • Data-Driven Decisions. Measurable outcomes through urban intelligence.

  • Trust and Execution. Credible delivery for cities and operators.
